Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important political figure stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
